Lost Pet

It’s critical that you alert your neighbors as quickly as possible and take the proper steps that could lead to a happy reunion.

If you have lost or found a pet (first off – we’re sorry to hear), contact your local animal control agency and/or non-emergency police department. File a lost pet report and ask where your animal will be taken if it’s picked up by one of these agencies.

Below, you’ll find helpful tips on actions to take if you’ve lost a pet, or advice on what you can do if you’ve found an animal in your community.

  • Tell your family, friends, and neighbors
  • Create a missing pet post on Petco Love Lost — a free, online tool that utilizes facial recognition technology to scan lost and found pet listings nationwide

Take action now to prevent your pet from being lost forever.

  • Your pet should wear a collar and ID tags at all times
  • Have your pet microchipped. Microchips are an implanted form of identification equipped to access your contact information when scanned at a veterinary clinic or shelter.
    • Our Wellness Clinic offers microchipping for both cats and dogs. Call 631-728-7387 x 226 to schedule an appointment
