Dalmatian in Critical Condition
Two SASF volunteers help save Dalmatians from Egypt
Mark Ambrico and Mike Tekel, two SASF volunteers, set out to aid in the transport of three rescue dogs flying in from Egypt. The Dalmatian Rescue of South Florida was asking for help to get these dogs to them and Mark and Mike volunteered for the first leg of the trip.
What Mark and Mike didn’t know is that one of the Dalmatians would arrive barely alive. Our volunteers jumped into action to help Behl, the Dalmatian, hang on until they could arrive at a veterinary emergency clinic.
Behl is continuing to fight to survive. He also had extensive burns on his back and is still in critical condition.
Mark explained, “That trip turned into something much more than I expected. I already knew he had a large burn on his back that was healing. When I got him at the airport, he was not responsive, but breathing. The rescue made arrangements with an emergency vet care in Forest Hills. We brought him there and he is a very sick dog.” And added, “but I heard he was having some positive response to the care he was given.” – Mark Ambrico
Thank you to Mark and Mike for always going above and beyond. We are lucky to have such dedicated volunteers.
